Hi. My name is Owen. I have been a resident DJ at Hive for over four years. I've been a part of the Gothic scene for many years in many American cities and now I get to enjoy spinning music in Portland, one of my favourite places of all. Although I play a wide variety of styles of music on most given nights, from Darkwave to Horror Punk, from New Romantic to E.B.M., I am best known for playing Deathrock and Ethereal, though I lovingly take requests and always play for whomever fills the club. I have always been very passionate about music and even while I spin, if I like the song, I try to come out and dance too. For me, however, the best part of the Hive experience is seeing all the people who come and hang out. This subculture means a lot to me because its people mean a lot to me. The end.

Brian Backlash is the outdoor DJ at Hive, joining the club in early 2008. From 1997 to 2001 he was a DJ at KTEC 89.5 FM, a college radio station in southern Oregon. With roots in coldwave, Wax Trax! and old school EBM, Brian finds a balance in playing songs people love to hear with tunes that haven't had their chance to shine, or have gathered too much dust. Always open to requests, he does his best to fill as many as he can, feeling that the outside area at Hive is the best possible place to take risks and try new things. Brian also doubles as the webmaster of this site, and he often publishes music reviews, photography from local shows and interviews he's conducted with a number of a dark underground acts.

Dean Hunter isn't just Hive's resident bartender, he's also the person who started Hive in April of 2004. Hailing from Australia, Dean has now lived in Oregon for well over a decade. He works as a bartender and event promoter for a variety of venues, including the Crystal Ballroom and Plan B. His responsibilities as Hive's "CEO" include booking DJs, arranging for special guest performers to appear, acquiring equipment for the club, various executive decisions, as well as pulling the occasional miracle out of his ass. While he's never been keen on the limelight of the club scene, his talent and dedication behind the scenes has enabled Hive to be a consistently great dance party for the past 6 years. He also claims to have slept with Iggy Pop.
